Blessings...

On the afternoon of the first Thursday in February 3 years ago,
I frantically tried to reach Casey on our only cell phone.

Earlier that week, Christopher had been diagnosed with RSV.
That Thursday afternoon, Casey was told to take him to the hospital for fluids.
Within an hour, doctors called an ambulance instead.

The situation was very serious
and everything moved so fast.

By the time I reached the hospital,
it was like an ER scene from a movie -
White coats surrounding my baby.

I was rushed away, scared and confused.
And that was only the start of our journey.

________________________________

I've shared some of the painful memories,
and a little about gratitude and giving back.

But this year is different.
I am beginning to see a glimpse of God's "big picture".

First, my faith was strengthened
in ways I could not even imagine.

I learned to depend on him and I experienced
a peace that truly surpasses understanding.

Second, He used this trial
to put a desire in my heart
to stay home with my children.

Then, He followed through.

Opportunities opened up
that allowed me to stay home
and even to homeschool!

Third, God impacted others in their ministries
and showed us how a church and a community
can come together to pray and support.

We were blessed by so many people
in such a magnitude that I can't ever repay.
I am humbled to consider the love shown to us
and ponder these acts in my heart just as
"Mary treasured up all these things,
pondering them in her heart" Luke 2:19

Fourth, God revealed to me
that His hand was on this situation
from the very beginning, and even before.

He prepared us for this.
He brought us to it, He brought us through it,
and He strengthened our faith.

God's plan is bigger than we can see
in the midst of a trial.

The list could go on and on,
but I know one thing for sure...

I have never been more certain that
the trials I faced were directly used
for our good and His glory
in HIS timing.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,
for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
And let steadfastness have its full effect,
that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-4

God is so good.
